Just like UConn, master the fundamentals to see your business win. ๐Ÿ€

Today, I wanted to give a shout-out to my boys from UConn, who just won their second straight national championship and sixth overall. ๐Ÿ€

Watching them repeat got me to thinking about what defines their prolonged success, or the winning attitude and work ethic of any legendary player, team, or program.

Coach Dan Hurley teaches it, Michael Jordan said it, Kobe Bryant preached it: MASTER THE FUNDAMENTALS!

Practice those essential basics over and over until youโ€™ve perfected them. Thatโ€™s all the competitive advantage you need.

And when it comes to your business and marketing, mastering the fundamentals means making sure the essentials are covered and covered well.

Those are the most effective, highest-ROI marketing tools you have at your disposal.

For me, those marketing tools may include:

  • Great communication with your current clients and actively asking them for referrals.
  • Sending smart, value-adding email campaigns weekly.
  • Strategic, personalized social media.
  • Shooting and sharing at least one video per week.
  • Reviewing and enhancing all of your client outreach materials.
  • Improving your website so someone may actually look at it/read it.
  • Networking with local businesses/owners/CEOs, etc.
  • Offering your services as a speaker and presenter.
  • And running paid online ads only when you have those items and a follow-up system rock solid.

Thatโ€™s all you really need to have a multimillion-dollar career.

So, stop overthinking it. Stop looking for shortcuts. Stop looking for quick fixes.

Just like in basketball or anything you have to earn, the real win comes in consistency. Starting and stopping marketing efforts because you donโ€™t get instant gratification is not the way to go.

Instead, implement and perfect those highest-value marketing tactics and your business will soar!

As always, drop me a line if you ever need some help or just want to talk about it.
